New Zealander Rachel and Yorkshireman Jonathan Hesford bought an ancient winery and several parcels of mature vines in the foothills of the Pyrenees in 2006. The Rescapé Carignan is made by partial carbonic maceration - the technique used in Beaujolais to give the wine the maximal amount of fruitiness without too much tannin.
A fresh, perfumed wine that is great a little chilled or served with lighter dishes.
