Vinoramica Favourites - All Reds
A mixture of household names in Highams Park—that always put a smile on the face—along with some of Matt’s recent discoveries, often “off the beaten track”.
Two bottles of each of the following:
Adega de Penalva Indigenous Red Blend — Dao, Portugal
A soft, easy-drinking wine from indigenous Portuguese grape varieties. Bags of juicy, crunchy red fruit lead to soft tannins and a warm and spicy finish. A perfect partner for lamb, beef and venison.
Dominio de Fontana, Tempranillo x Syrah, Ucles, Spain
Tempranillo, the classic Rioja grape, blended with Syrah, which works really well in the drier, more continental climate south of Madrid, adding a fantastic spicy edge to the wine. Aromatic, with expressive notes of ripe, red berries from the Tempranillo and a touch of vanilla thanks to a few months of barrel-ageing. A region to watch out for!
Dona Paula Estate Malbec—Uco Valley, Argentina
This is the Estate Malbec, which is from two of their great vineyards, at altitudes of 1,100m—1,350m. An intense Malbec, which has spent 12 month ageing in barrel, with a real concentration and spice, while retaining an amazing freshness thanks to its location the Uco Valley.
